instant TeachSlate Board

Built by a teacher, for the way classrooms actually work

I built TeachSlate for my own classroom because I got tired of fighting clunky in-house smartboard software and subscription-heavy web apps that don’t let you work across multiple canvases. It’s fast, distraction-free, saves directly to your own Google Drive, and comes packed with hidden tools—like instant QR phone buzzers and classroom games.

Why I Made TeachSlate

As an ESOL tutor, I needed a whiteboard that didn’t get in my way and just work whatever the platform or classroom (or just on a TV in a community venue). Commercial software is often slow, filled with unnecessary toolbars, or locked behind heavy subscriptions. Worse, few allowed me sperate pages so I could step through my lesson without trying to navigate an infinite canvas when I just wanted to move on to the next part of the lesson. I coded TeachSlate as a one-man project to solve my own classroom frustrations. It’s lightweight, distraction-free, and handles what matters: fluid teaching. If it fits your workflow too, you’re welcome to use it.
